Sonoma County’s forgotten outlaws: The rise and fall of the Houx gang

In the early 1870s, when Sonoma County was more dust than vineyards, a band of local farm boys decided to chase their fortunes. They weren’t hardened gunslingers or train robbers with legends to their names. They were amateurs—desperate, reckless, and bound for failure. History remembers them as the Houx Gang.
