Mendocino County’s hazard mitigation plan details what would happen in a 7.4 quake

On Friday, July 10, the ground under Round Valley wouldn’t stop moving. A run of quakes rolled through north of Covelo over a few-hour span — at least six of magnitude 2 or greater, topping out at magnitude 4.4 just after 6 p.m. and felt as far off as Ukiah, Willits and Fort Bragg. It did no real damage. It was the second time this summer a major fault under Mendocino County has slipped hard enough to be felt across the whole county.
